Criminal Investigations Lieutenant
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Chief of Police, assists in the implementation of a comprehensive program for crime prevention and law enforcement and to protect the city’s residents and property and enforce laws and ordinances by supervising the criminal investigation division. Supervises, reviews, and makes recommendations concerning the work of subordinate personnel; assigns investigations to subordinates and monitors their progress; supervises and manages all investigative responsibilities including crimes against persons, property, and juveniles; crimes relation to narcotics and vice.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
In order to be eligible to take the Criminal Investigations Lieutenant’s exam, officers must have held the position of Sergeant or above for the Henderson Police Department for at least two continuous years, and have a minimum of one year of investigative experience as part of the initial resume. No disciplinary action above the level of verbal counseling may be on record within twelve months of the testing date. Applicants from outside the department for Criminal Investigations Lieutenant must have a minimum of five years total in law enforcement, with two years serving in a supervisory role comparable to the Sergeant position within Henderson Police Department. Outside applicants must also have a minimum of three (3) years investigative experience as part of their initial resume.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OR LICENSE: TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer Certification or higher is preferred.
SALARY: base salary of $55,370.77 per year plus benefits.
