GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Lieutenant, assists in the implementation of a comprehensive program for crime prevention and law enforcement and to protect the city’s residents and property and enforce laws and ordinances by supervising the patrol officers or investigating crimes assigned to them. Acts as relief supervisor in the absence of the lieutenant.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
In order to be eligible to take the Sergeant’s exam, officers must have held the position of patrol officer or above for the Henderson Police Department for at least two continuous years at the time of testing, with no disciplinary action above the level of verbal counseling on record within twelve months of the testing date. Applicants from outside the department for Sergeant must have a minimum of five years total in law enforcement at a law enforcement agency comparable to the Henderson Police Department.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OR LICENSE: TCOLE Peace Officer Certification.
SALARY: This position is in Pay Group 22, with a base salary of $48,787.97 per year plus benefits.
