The City of Henderson is accepting applications for the position described below:
JOB TITLE: Animal Center Director
General Statement of Duties: Under general direction of the Public Services Director and the City Manager,the Animal Center Director performs a variety of technical and specialized duties involving the operations of the Animal Center. The Director will need to work efficiently and effectively to manage the flow of animals from the euthanasia list into foster,rescue, adopter homes, consistently working for an increased save rate. This position will need to interact with citizens, individual volunteers, volunteer groups, staff and others for scheduling and marketing potential fosters and rescues through websites, social media and email. The Animal Center will work closely and communicate with the Animal Protection Department on a daily basis to ensure best practices and procedures. The Animal Protection Department and the Animal Center will also work together to collectively find ways to educate the public on all animal concerns within the Community. The Animal Center Director will collect, track and manage data of all animals entering the shelter. The Director will effectively create and administer programs that generate positive outcomes for animals and success for the Center and the Community.
Education and Experience:
The Animal Center is looking for an innovative and dynamic individual who brings skills, enthusiasm,and accountability to the Animal Center. It is not essential that the successful candidate have senior management experience of an animal shelter or animal control facility. The Animal Center is looking for someone with specific and transferable skills (working in a team environment, leadership,financial control, management, bottom line results) that can be transferred to the shelter environment, as such is found in other professions (business, law,veterinary medicine, public administration, public relations, etc.).
-High School Diploma or equivalent is required
-Valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
-Experience in website and/or social media platforms
-Must have strong written and oral communications skills as demonstrated in prior experience
- Experience in Animal Care type services
