Police Patrol Lieutenant
The City of Henderson is accepting applications for the position described below:
Job Title: Patrol Lieutenant
General Statement of Duties: Under the direction of the Deputy Chief, assists in the implementation of a comprehensive program for crime prevention and law enforcement and to protect the city’s residents and property and enforce laws and ordinances by supervising the patrol officers assigned to their shift. Supervises, reviews, and makes recommendations concerning the work of subordinate personnel; assigns duties to subordinates and monitors their progress; supervises and manages all patrol responsibilities for the shift assigned.
Required Certificates or License: TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer Certification or higher is preferred. Applicant should be a TCOLE Certified FTO (or become FTO certified immediately upon promotion).
Experience and Training:
Henderson Police Department Applicants: To be eligible to take the Patrol Lieutenant’s exam, officers must have held the position of Sergeant or above for the Henderson Police Department for at least two continuous years with no disciplinary action above the level of verbal counseling on record within twelve months of the testing date unless a Performance Improvement Plan is completed successfully at which time it is the prerogative of the Chief of Police as to the applicant’s eligibility.
If due to previous experience an internal applicant meets the criteria for external applicant, they will be eligible to test for the Lieutenant position.
Applicants (Outside the Department): To be considered, officers must have a minimum of five years total in law enforcement, with two years serving in a supervisory role comparable to the Sergeant position within Henderson Police Department.
Salary: This position is in Pay Group 25, with a base salary of $56,478.18 per year plus benefits.
