Patrol Sergeant

The City of Henderson is accepting applications for the position described below:


JOB TITLE:  Patrol Sergeant

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Perform daily shift preparations: read and approve reports left from previous shift; complete time sheets; assign duties and equipment for the day based on availability of vehicles, officers on sick leave, obtain information from CID regarding neighborhood activities in which police should be involved; answer citizen complaints; review records from previous shift; conduct roll call. Provide direct supervision to police officers on duty: patrol the city to supervise, monitor, and assist officers; check in or monitor officer’s calls; observe officer, assist if necessary; make note of any officer behavior requiring later reprimand or training.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  

In order to be eligible to take the Sergeant exam, officers must have held the position of Corporal or above for the Henderson Police Department for at least two continuous years. No disciplinary action above the level of verbal counseling may be on record within twelve months of the testing date. Applicants from outside the department must have a minimum of five years total in law enforcement, with two years serving in a supervisory role comparable to the Corporal position within Henderson Police Department.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OR LICENSE: TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer Certification or higher is preferred.

SALARY: Starting salary of $68,649.58 per year plus benefits.
