- October Council Meeting – A regularly scheduled Council Meeting was held on October 17th, 2023, at 6:00 PM at City Hall. The meeting included a call to order, invocation and pledge of allegiance, and citizens' comments. The agenda included presentations and announcements, the approval of a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and consent agenda items such as the approval of minutes and street closures for upcoming events. Additionally, the council discussed the appointment of a new city attorney, election results, and a minor plat application.
- National Night Out - on Tuesday, October 3rd Fair Park was filled with families, First Responders and fun! The city celebrated four decades of National Night Out, which brings Communities closer to Law Enforcement agencies by creating positive, mutually-beneficial celebrations with free food and entertainment. Citizens enjoyed live music, meeting and interacting with the brave men and women of Henderson Police Department and Henderson Fire Department; along with other incredible First Responders from across Rusk County.
- Paint The Town Pink – October is an important month for the residents of Henderson and the Henderson Fire Department. Each October, the Fire Department partners with local restaurants and businesses to raise money for their Caner Fund. The Henderson Fire Department Cancer Fund provides monetary assistance for local cancer patients to cover essentials such as medical care, household expenses, or gas and lodging during treatment.
- Community Clean Up - City of Henderson, in association with Republic Services and Keep Henderson Beautiful held a free Community Clean-Up event on October 28th. This event is held twice a year and helps residents clear out cluttered garages, backyards and storage sheds at no cost!
- Public Safety Fun Night - The goodies and good times returned to Central Fire Station on Tuesday, October 31st! Henderson Fire Department and Henderson Police Department, along with multiple Rusk County First Responder agencies, rallied together to hand out wrapped candy and safety materials.

- City crews have been busy prepping for Novembers Annual Syrup Festival by updating street signs in the Downtown Historical District and installing public Wi-Fi.
- Central Fire Station is undergoing construction on their roof, attic space, insulation, HVAC and duct work.
- The new Municipal Complex is also undergoing renovations and construction. This month a city crew is renovating the downstairs women's restroom while contractors work on repairing the roof and installing a new elevator to the back of the building.
- Lake Forest Park was stocked with 950 catfish earlier this month and an addition 1,500 rainbow trout will be stocked before Christmas.

Find The CureCaptain Patrick Lewis shows off the official 2023 Paint The Town Pink t-shirt design. Each year the Henderson Firefighters design a cancer awareness t-shirt. You can purchase this years tee at Central Fire Station and all profits go to the Henderson Fire Department Cancer Fund.

It Takes A VillageEach employee and individual brings unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to the City of Henderson. It truly takes all kinds of individuals with various talents, skills, and efforts to bring an event together. Whether the contribution was big or small, all efforts were invaluable and greatly appreciated.
