Honoring Freedom and Unity at the Juneteenth Celebration ParadeThe Henderson Police Department was proud to support this year’s Juneteenth Celebration Parade, alongside the Henderson Fire Department and UT Health EMS. It was an honor to assist with the event at Yates Park as our community gathered to celebrate freedom, culture, and unity. We extend our sincere thanks to all who participated, volunteered, and helped make the celebration a success. Serving a community as vibrant and connected as Henderson is truly a privilege.

- Street Contract Update: The street reconstruction project is moving forward in phases, with most underground utility work now complete. With paving and drainage work is done, crews are addressing a few remaining issues. These include stains and debris on streets, driveways, and curbs. In some spots, the new pavement is higher than the curb, creating bumps for vehicles entering driveways. Our engineers, Stokes and Associates, are aware of the issues and are working with the contractor to find solutions and clean up the affected areas.
- Payment Kiosk: The “doghouse” building in the Municipal Service Complex parking lot now has a payment kiosk installed and the structure has been bricked in. Our construction team did a great job making it match the main building and creating a secure, weather-resistant spot for payments. The technology has been installed and tested, and several staff members have already completed training on how to operate and balance the system.
We’re currently finalizing internal controls and daily procedures. Once complete, and with a bit more training, the kiosk will go live! This 24/7 payment kiosk will accept payments for utility bills and municipal court fines. Users can look up accounts and pay by cash, check, or credit card. We’re excited to offer this more convenient and efficient payment option. - Infrastructure Updates: Following multiple rounds of heavy rain, city crews completed a high volume of pothole repairs and worked diligently to resolve storm drain issues across town; helping ensure our streets remain safe and well-maintained.
Parks and Rec: Preparations are also well underway at Lake Forest Park for the upcoming Freedom Festival on July 4th. The park has been cleaned, mowed, and prepped for what promises to be a fun and festive celebration for the whole community.

Training Remains a Top Priority for HFDOngoing training is essential to the success and safety of the Henderson Fire Department. We actively seek out opportunities to enhance our skills and preparedness. Thanks to the cooperation of the contractors and the new property owners, our team was recently able to conduct valuable ventilation training on-site. While the focus is on learning and readiness, our firefighters always appreciate the chance to train together and enjoy the experience.
