The City of Henderson utilizes social media to present matters of public interest that are related to City of Henderson municipal government and services. GENERAL POLICY

  • City Social Media sites should make clear that they are maintained by the City of Henderson, Texas.
  • Wherever possible, City Social Media sites should link back to the official City of Henderson, Texas website for forms, documents, online services, and other information necessary to conduct business with the City of Henderson, Texas.
  • A department-designated Social Media Administrator will monitor content on City Social Media sites to ensure adherence to both the City’s Social Media Policy and the interest and goals of the City of Henderson, Texas.
  • The City reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed in violation of this Social Media Policy or any applicable law. Any content removed based on these guidelines must be retained by the department-designated Social Media Administrator(s) for a reasonable period of time, including the time, date and identity of the poster, when available.
  • The city will approach the use of Social Media tools as consistently as possible, enterprise wide.
  • All City Social Media sites shall adhere to applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.
  • City Social Media sites are subject to the Texas Public Information Act. Any content maintained in Social Media format that is related to City business, including a list of subscribers, posted communication, and communication submitted for posting, may be a public record subject to public disclosure. For Public Records Act requests, please contact the City Secretary’s office directly.
  • Comments on topics or issues not within the jurisdictional purview of the City of Henderson, Texas may be removed.
  • Employees representing the City government via City Social Media sites must conduct themselves at all times as a representative of the City and in accordance with all City policies.
  • This Social Media Policy may be revised at any time.

The City reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed in violation of its' Privacy Policy, or any applicable law. For instance, the City reserves the right to delete submissions which contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or comments that could reasonably be perceived as discriminatory based upon race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation. 

The City also reserves the rights to delete comments, information or links to other sites that are clearly off topic, advocate illegal activity, promote particular services, products or political organizations, infringe on copyrights or trademarks or personal information, violate the social media site’s terms of service, are sexual in content, or can compromise public safety.

The City of Henderson, Texas reserves the right to deny access to City of Henderson, Texas Social Media sites for any individual, who violates the City of Henderson, Texas’ Social Media Policy, at any time and without prior notice.
