2022-2023 PROPOSED BUDGET
The City of Henderson Budget is the most important document the City produces. Each year, the City’s budget is developed in conjunction with the City Manager and all City departments. The proposed budget is then carefully reviewed and approved by the City Council. Clarity about the use of public funds is necessary so that Public Representatives and Officials can be accountable for effectiveness and efficiency.

2021-2022 ADOPTED BUDGET
City Manager Jay Abercrombie would like to invite Citizens to review the City of Henderson's Adopted Budget. The Adopted Budget for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year is balanced and designed to address our community’s top priorities. The City of Henderson’s Finance Department is responsible for developing and preparing the City’s Annual Budget to be in line with the City Council’s goals and objectives. The Finance Department oversees the preparation of the annual budget to ensure it is ready for Council review and adoption each fiscal year. This department is also responsible for monitoring compliance with the current adopted budget.
The City of Henderson has been awarded the Government Finance Officer's Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting; and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
Approximately 1,800 governments, including states, cities, counties, special districts, school districts, and more have been recognized for transparency in budgeting. To earn recognition, budget documents must meet program criteria and excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool. This award is intended to recognize governments' efforts to make information available within the budget document that is transparent and easily understood by citizens in the community.
